[Ended]The Philosophy and Design of MUJI – A Presentation by Masaaki Kanai

Saturday, November 24

For the first time in Eastern Canada, Masaaki Kanai, Chairman of Ryohin Keikaku, will discuss MUJI’s global strategy, philosophy and design for a one-time event at the University of Toronto’s Convocation Hall.

With the goal of making people’s daily lives comfortable and pleasant, MUJI is globally recognized for developing products that remain simplified and streamlined, yet fulfill their purpose completely. While being considerate of environmental issues, MUJI’s natural and functional design complements today’s lifestyle perfectly. But the company’s philosophy hasn’t changed since its beginning: MUJI continues to orient itself to the basis and universality of daily life.

This event, which marks the opening of Toronto’s MUJI Atrium flagship store, will feature a presentation by Masaaki Kanai followed by a discussion with guests from related industries. The presentation will look at the evolution of MUJI’s strategies since its founding in 1980, and explore how the brand is heading toward the future while maintaining its ideology.
