[Ended]UBC Farm Tour – Introducing Organic Farming

August 3, 2019

Have you ever wondered about how organic farming differs from regular farming? Did you know that in order to be considered organic, produce must be cultivated in soil that has not been treated with pesticides or chemical fertilizers for at least three years?

For more than 20 years, concerned about the well-being of the customers, producers and the environment, MUJI has been continuously working to increase the percentage of organic cotton in its products. Since 2018, 100% of the cotton used in MUJI apparel is organic.

This summer, we invite you to visit the UBC Farm and to learn how they adopted organic practices since the late 1990’s to support the organic movement in the area, bringing beneficial values to our community.

Participants will engage with the Site Coordinator in a private farm tour to discover indigenous gardening, organic crop production fields, laying hens, and a few more organic farming projects. Following the tour, UBC Farm will provide pre-harvested local wildflower and cultivated flower varieties to build your own bouquet for a fee*. There will also be the option to harvest your own flowers in the nearby flower fields with staff that tend the flower fields.

The UBC farm is holding its Saturday Market until 2:00PM. We encourage you to stay after for your own exploration time.

*Fee for build-your-own bouquet will depend on the bouquet size, ranged up to max. $15.
