re-mujiMUJI Clothing Recycling Program

Clothes and Cloths, People and Nature

In an effort to spread the concept of recycling resources, MUJI initiates “ReMUJI”, including the “Redyed” series, which is a collaboration with local natural indigo dyeing workshop Dyelicious, and the “Remade” series, which is a collaboration with the local social enterprise Rhys Workshop, whose garment production team designs and produces the series by recycling used clothes and leftover fabrics. By giving used clothes a new life, we aim to convey the value of sustainability, emphasizing the importance of being kind to the earth, reducing waste, and cherishing each piece of clothing.

Since 2023, MUJI Hong Kong has been launching a clothing recycling campaign, ReMUJI, which carefully sifts through the used clothing collected from customers and selects those in good condition and clean to be dyed, rewashed, cut and sewn for re-commercialization.

ReMUJI's products are gender-neutral and size-neutral so that each customer can find their favorite item. By recycling and remodeling, we breathe new life into these old clothes, making each piece unique.

Nature and Recycling

We sincerely invite our valued customers who have always loved MUJI to participate in the Clothing Recycling Program. Through the handcraft of natural indigo dyeing and creative patchwork, we can give a new life and color into recycled garments. Let's think about the value of each piece of clothing and cherish it together.

Blue

Taking reference from the indigo dye technique used in clothing making since the Asuka period in Japan, ReMUJI collection uses the dyes locally grown by the natural dyeing studio in Hong Kong. Food waste is used as fertilizer to produce natural indigo dye.

From selecting raw materials to producing upcycled products, ReMUJI conveys the value of sustainability by appealing to the importance of cherishing the nature, promoting waste recycling and making good use of resources.

Each ReMUJI item is handmade and one-of-a-kind. Recycled products are handled with care and repeatedly dyed one by one manually to furnish the clothing with new colors and life, becoming a unique handcrafted selection.
