Marinated Japanese Naganegi (Leek)

Japanese leeks marinated in a white wine or sake-based soup for a simple yet deep flavour.

Ingredients(2 servings)

Japan Saitama Fukatani Naganegi

Salt
Proper quantity
Vinegar
1/2 tablespoon
Sugar
1/2 tablespoon
Olive oil
1 teaspoon
White wine or sake
1/2 tablespoon

Directions (approx. 15 minutes)

  1. Cut the leek into 7 cm lengths. Mix salt, vinegar and salt to make a marinade.
  2. Heat the frying pan with olive oil, pan-fry both sides of the leek till browned. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Pour the white wine or sake into the frying pan and stir-fry the leek, then add the marinade and let the leek soak in the marinade for around 3 minutes and enjoy.
