ABOUT THE ARTIST AND STYLE
Todoroki Tomohiro
Todoroki Tomohiro is from Yokohama, Japan, and has been practicing art for 25 years. He has degrees from Kobe Design University in Industrial and Interior Design. Todoroki has had many shows around the world and has sold approximately 2,000 of his pieces. In 2013, he became the first Asian artist to host an art exhibition in Mille Miglia, an esteemed Italian racing event between classic race cars that were made between the 1930s and 1953.
Todoroki is influenced by Picasso’s ceramics and “drawings” by many artists. His designs are flexible and unique and free from reservation, and grasps the fundamentals of the elements. The background is always white, and the car is coming straight to the viewer rather than from the side; his focus is on one part of the car to highlight its detail. The paint (acrylic) is as smooth as possible and he uses about 5 coats the achieve that effect. He prefers a matte finish, therefore, the paintings are not sealed.
