THIS WEEKEND’S VENDORS
Kurumi Conley
Since 1995, Kurumi Conley has worked out of her Portland studio creating stunning pieces of glass art. Born and raised in Japan’s cultural capital of Kyoto, she went on to study ceramics, textiles and glass at the Joshibi University of Art and Design. Her sense for detail defines much of her work with colors following the seasons, ranging from muted to bold and bright. Kurumi is not confined only to Japanese tastes but draws from the culture of her hometown. This can be seen in her patterns and motifs that often revolve around flowers, plants, and animals. She is also known for using traditional Japanese textile designs, made of powdered glass, etched onto glass panels and layered and formed in the kiln. Each one of her pieces is a glowing example of fine craftsmanship and vivid, thoughtful design.
