Recycling and Reusing

To encourage the concept of sustainability, MUJI initiates recycling and reusing resources by collecting products which are no longer needed by customers. The recycled resources are reused to produce new products while minimizing the adverse effects to our environment and cultivating the habits of being environmentally friendly from everyday life.

Recyclable Items

PLASTIC BOTTLE

Recyclable Items: Plastic bottles, bottled drinks, PE and PP storage boxes or any other plastic materials

Things to Note for Recycling Items: Please clean and dry the recycling items in advance, items which are larger than 35x35cm in sizes are excluded from recycling, please do not place in the recycling box.
PAPER

Recyclable Items: Paper made hangers and hooks from MUJI’s innerwear and miscellaneous products, any newspapers and magazines or office used paper

Things to Note for Recycling Items: Greasy, wet, or double-sided laminated paper, photographs, toilet paper, and napkins are excluded from recycling, please do not place in the recycling box.
ALUMINIUM CAN & GLASS CONTAINER

Recyclable Items: Canned drinks, fragrance bottles or other cans and glass materials

Things to Note for Recycling Items: Please clean and dry the recycling items in advance, items which are larger than 35x35cm in size are excluded from recycling, please do not place in the recycling box.
CLOTHING

Recyclable Items: Recyclable Items: Limited to MUJI’s apparel only, including MUJI Labo, IDÉE and any colored or with printed patterns clothing.

Things to Note for Recycling Items: Please clean and dry the clothing and household fabric items in advance, innerwear, socks, shoes, and accessories (including cape, hats, bags) are excluded, please do not place in the recycling box.
HOUSEHOLD FABRIC

Recyclable items: Limited to MUJI’s household fabric only,

Things to Note for Recycling Items: Please clean and dry the household fabric items in advance, Duvets, pillows, bed pads, mattresses, sofas, chairs, seat cushions, cushions, mats, towels, and slippers made clothing are excluded, please do not place in the recycling box.

Recycling Incentive Programme

MUJI app members who donate eligible recyclable items will receive MUJI Points: 200 points for each piece of clothing or household fabric item, and 1 point for every gram of other items.

Terms & conditions:

This programme is only applicable to customers who have registered as MUJI app members. Customers must bring eligible recyclable items to our designated stores. MUJI Points will be rewarded after our store staff have inspected and confirmed that such recyclable items has met the criteria as specified.
The eligible recyclable items collected for each donation must meet the following minimum amount (as determined by MUJI's on-site scale): at least 1 piece for clothing or household fabric items or a minimum of 300 grams for items of other items.
To ensure effective recycling and repurposing, this programme only accepts recyclable items which meet all of the following criteria:

a. Clothing items: (i) Must be MUJI clothing products (including MUJI Labo and IDÉE) ; (ii) the text of "Ryohin Keikaku" or "MUJI" on the clothing care label must be clearly legible; (iii) must be in good condition, free from obvious stains, mold, or damage; (iv) any items of any colour or with printed patterns; and (v) underwear, socks, shoes, fashion accessories (such as shawls, hats, bags) are not accepted.
b. Household fabric items: (i) Must be MUJI household fabric products ; (ii) the text of "Ryohin Keikaku" or "MUJI" on the care label must be clearly legible; (iii) must be in good condition, free from obvious stains, mold, or damage; (iv) any items of any colour or with printed patterns; and (v) duvets, pillows, bed pads, mattresses, sofas, chairs, seat cushions, cushions, mats, towels, and slippers are not accepted.
c. Other items: (i) Must be MUJI products other than clothing or household fabric items or packaging materials derived from such products, such as packaging bags, paper hangers, paper bags, etc., but excluding aluminium food packaging bags; (ii) the text of "Ryohin Keikaku" or MUJI" on the item must be clearly legible; and (iii) must not exceed 35 x 35 cm in size.

Customers must clean, empty (including scraping out any remaining products in containers), and dry recyclable items before donation, and must separate and sort the composite recyclable materials in advance.
If customer would like to participate in this programme, they must notify our staff at the cashier counter. Our staff reserve the right to determine whether the recyclable items meet the criteria specified in points 3 and 4 above and have the right to reject any items of unknown source.
Locations to collect the recyclable items are limited to designated MUJI stores in Hong Kong as listed at https://www.muji.com/hk-en/campaign/remuji/ and https://www.muji.com/hk-en/campaign/cycle/.
Recyclable items will not be returned after donation. Customers must ensure that no personal items are left behind before donating. Once collected, MUJI Hong Kong assumes no legal responsibility therefrom.
Recyclable items will be handled by third-party recyclers or partners designated by us.
MUJI Points earned from participating in this programme shall be subject to the Terms of Use of the MUJI app.
MUJI (Hong Kong) Company Limited reserves the right to amend or terminate this programme. Any changes will be announced on the MUJI Hong Kong Offical Website or official social media channels.
MUJI (Hong Kong) Company Limited has the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. In case of any disputes regarding this programme and these terms, MUJI (Hong Kong) Company Limited reserves the final decision.
In case of any discrepancies between the Chinese and English versions, the English version shall prevail.
