[Daily Life Tips] Season your iron frying pan

Posted:

Here are some tips to help you in your daily life.

Since the time spent at home has increased, more and more people are picking up and using the tools of everyday life. For example, an iron frying pan that requires some getting used to.

Iron frying pans need some knack for care and cooking. Continuous and regular usage of the pan will help prevent rust and stickiness, which turns it into a cookware that can be used for a long time. An iron frying pan has good thermal conductivity and can be cooked at high temperatures, contributing to the good taste of stir-fry and baked dishes.

How to season your iron frying pan?

① Oil the pan before using it for the first time

  • The surface of the iron frying pan has many small holes. When oil gets into this hole, a thin oil film is created on the surface of the frying pan. The point is to heat the oil slowly over medium heat to evenly coat and heat the whole surface. If the frying pan is soaked in oil, it will be less prone to sticking and rust.

② Oil the pan again for a second time before cooking

  • During the second time of using, use some oil to coat the pan before cooking. This is because if the pan is not well seasoned, food will stick to the pan. To prevent that, coat the pan lightly before using. It will take lesser and lesser oil each time.

③ Wash with hot water without the use of detergent.

  • After cooking while the frying pan is still warm, use scrubbing brush or bamboo scrub and wash the pan with hot water without the use of detergent. After washing, wipe dry and leave it to dry well, then apply a thin layer of oil with kitchen paper on the inside and outside of the frying pan.
