When your room is small, you really need storage boxes to maximize space. One of MUJI’s best seller is the PP Storage Drawers which let me chuck my things in while the semi-translucent property help obscures the stored contents with its cloudiness to maintain a neat look. The best part? It is versatile enough for various combinations; if I do not have enough storage, I can always purchase another one and add on top of it. [Daily Life Tips] Season your iron frying pan

Posted:

Here are some tips to help you in your daily life.

Since the time spent at home has increased, more and more people are picking up and using the tools of everyday life. For example, an iron frying pan that requires some getting used to.

Iron frying pans need some knack for care and cooking. Continuous and regular usage of the pan will help prevent rust and stickiness, which turns it into a cookware that can be used for a long time. An iron frying pan has good thermal conductivity and can be cooked at high temperatures, contributing to the good taste of stir-fry and baked dishes.

How to season your iron frying pan?

① Oil the pan before using it for the first time

  • The surface of the iron frying pan has many small holes. When oil gets into this hole, a thin oil film is created on the surface of the frying pan. The point is to heat the oil slowly over medium heat to evenly coat and heat the whole surface. If the frying pan is soaked in oil, it will be less prone to sticking and rust.

② Oil the pan again for a second time before cooking

  • During the second time of using, use some oil to coat the pan before cooking. This is because if the pan is not well seasoned, food will stick to the pan. To prevent that, coat the pan lightly before using. It will take lesser and lesser oil each time.

③ Wash with hot water without the use of detergent.

  • After cooking while the frying pan is still warm, use scrubbing brush or bamboo scrub and wash the pan with hot water without the use of detergent. After washing, wipe dry and leave it to dry well, then apply a thin layer of oil with kitchen paper on the inside and outside of the frying pan.

Squeegee

I use this everyday after showering to dry the walls of the shower room. This action leaves the shower room walls squeaky clean and takes less than 2 minutes!

Microfiber Cloth

This is really useful due to its good water absorption. I use it in the kitchen to wipe dishes and everywhere else. Each pack comes with 2 cloths, so you can use one and keep one as back-up!

Make your own Fabric Mask easily!

Here’s sharing with you on one quick method that I’ve learned online to create a fabric mask without sewing.
You will need a worn-out t-shirt (maybe one with a stretched shirt neck) and a pair of scissors. This can be easily completed within 15 minutes.

For the example below, I am using MUJI Indian Cotton T-Shirt that I’ve worn over 2 years. After cutting the sleeve, I can still wear it as a sleeve-less shirt at home.

Try Fridge Organizing!

As this week I won’t be visiting the supermarket to get groceries, hence I’ll make use of this chance to clear the food in the fridge and do some organizing.

Sometimes if I were to visit the supermarket, I’ll purchase too much, and vegetables that were kept at the bottom drawer tends to dries out fast and resulted in food wastage (Mottainai (勿体無い)). If you lay the vegetables on their side, they can sometimes go un-noticed, so it is recommended to stand it upright!

I’ve googled “Fridge Organizing Basics” and here are some tips I’ve picked up which I would like to share with you!
